Home Sweet Home

The Virginia Tech Massacre was totally unexpected news. 33 people died. It was the worst school shooting in US history. It’s terrifying and sad.

Anyways, we came back with new knowledge of robotics nationals. Everything’s different in Atlanta. It was windy, and tornedo warnings were in effect for most of our stay.

I had a difficult chemistry quiz last Wednesday, so I had to miss the “pep rally.”

Dallas airport was huge, and the monorail was fun to ride.

Thursday, I felt our team was only half attempting anything, but we went out and had Benihana’s for dinner.

On Friday, everything went wrong. Our robot just wasn’t robust enough, and rules in Atlanta were different than rules in San Diego and Los Angeles.

So we didn’t make it into division quarter finals, even though I think our robot was good enough.

We had dinner at Hard Rock Cafe.

One of my friends managed to get media passes since he was the photographer for the school’s newspaper, and he was able to ask people for autographs. I had already gotten the autographs of Steve Wozniak (co-founder of Apple)and Woodie Flowers (MIT professor and FIRST game designer). Then my friend got autographs of Mark Leon (NASA/JPL researcher that spends time in Antarctica), Dean Kamen (founder of FIRST/creater of the Segway), Chad Hurley (co-founder of Youtube), and I *think* the current president of DARPA. Mark Leon (who’s been at every regional we’ve attended this year) addressed my friend in his autograph, because he thought my book was his. xD

We played tennis… and had Southern food. =x It tasted really weird. Ahh! Then our first flight was delayed a lot, and I just arrived home/went to Fry’s. xD

Spring break for the rest of this week. Agenda:

Pick up Korean Music Festival tickets, reschedule ACT, renew Shonen Jump, make up homework/tests, study for ACT, study for AP tests…

No Internet = bad. @_@ Waah~ Hilton was charging $13 a night. I tried Internet on a friend’s laptop, with a better network card, but my conversation with my cousin kept on disconnecting like every 10 seconds.

Then in Atlanta, I saw FIRST Lego League teams from South Korea, China, Hong Kong, and Japan. xD; I spoke in Mandarin to some of the Chinese teams.

Ohhh! And we went to the Aquarium, the largest in the world. But it didn’t seem that big. o_O Beluga whales and sharks~

http://www.myspace.com/jrrevolution Even though I don’t really like Jrock… I know of Miyavi, X Japan (Forever Love), and random others? LA = yay!

http://animenewsnetwork.com/news/2007-04-13/soprano-sarah-brightman-sings-10th-pokemon-movie-theme Sarah Brightman is awesome. xD Andrew Lloyd Webber songs with her voice = *o* And I read she was on Kohaku before. I didn’t know she was that popular in Japan.
