I can’t tell if it’s the music that’s depressing or if I just listen to music when I’m sad and upset

I’ve absolutely fallen in love with Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto #2 in C minor, Op.18.
If I ever have the opportunity to play a piano concerto, I’d love to learn that. The raw outpouring of emotion is exquisite. I think my favorite music really does come from the late Romantic bridge to Contemporary music (or Baroque). Music from that era has more variety, but the melodies are retained.
