I made a bet with a friend. I lost.

I was a bit disappointed that I didn’t get a Berkeley Regents invitation (or not an invitation, but a nomination?). I got one from UCLA (I didn’t send in a teacher recommendation though), and UCSD and UCI awarded me Regents (or maybe one school was something else) automatically.

Well, he got Regents (Uber congrats!). I wasn’t sure if I was going to get in. Ah, College of Engineering is pretty competitive, no? >.< He said that if I got rejected, he’d spike his hair again. xP (It looks cool~ in an unusual kind of way x3)… but I lost the bet (even though it’s hardly a loss to get into my 3rd choice school?).

I guess that’s the end of the first part of my college quest? Caltech, MIT, Cal, UCLA, USC, UCSD, and UCI are my choices, in that order. 2nd part = visiting campuses, although I’ve pretty much settled on a college~ (No choice to really begin with once I got that large envelope sometime around December 13th ._. Ah, if only college was free)

Speaking of which, I did get a lovely poster from Caltech. xD Wherever I end up going, you’ll most likely find lots of animanga/JPop/Kpop/Caltech/MIT related posters/goodies hanging every which where.

Onto the rest of my day!

Umm… we had a sub in computer science. My government quiz went well. I have a huge calculus review packet to do over the weekend.

I tried tutoring my friends again. We went to the boba shop. I guess you might say I was less successful. ^^; I totally forgot how to do something, and the book was as vague as it could possibly get… I had to call my friend, and he helped. :3

Reminds me of Who Wants to be a Millionaire.

There are a lot of immature kiddies on the Internet.

Conformity 517 (7:01:20 PM): Ethugs: Because talking shit in real life is dangerous

As my friend says.

I got a letter from UCLA saying that I needed to get a recommendation letter for Regents.

My friend received his USC acceptance letter 2 days ago; I got mine today (Viterbi School of Engineering).

Caltech Prefrosh Weekend is on the same day as *insert concert here*

I got my MIT Campus Preview Weekend registration packet.

And ya know what? After the initial ZOMG I GOT IN TO CALTECH AND MIT…

I don’t seem to care that much about college admissions. =\ I majorly regret not applying to Harvard and Stanford just to see if I could get in. Well, more so Harvard because I already had all my essays done (copy + paste from other applications).

I still have half of my torturous senior year to finish.

My grandma told me I got a packet from USC, and I casually walked up and opened it. When you see a big 8×12 envelope (or whatever it is), you generally know what’s in store. But I wasn’t excited or anything. I remember feeling somewhat faint when I got my Caltech acceptance, and I remember jumping when I got my MIT notice…

*shrug*

So I’m done waiting for notices from the 3 (instead of 7 I was originally aiming for) private schools I applied to. And well, my applications to Irvine and San Diego are probably not going to be considered, since I never submitted my SAT scores.

I’m waiting for UCLA and Cal. I like Berkeley.

Even though I got a B on my English project.

Dear Angie,

On behalf of the Admissions Committee, it is my pleasure to offer you admission to the MIT Class of 2012. You stood out as one of the most talented and promising students in one of the most competitive applicant pools in the history of the Institute. Your commitment to personal excellence and principled goals has convinced us that you will both contribute to our diverse community and thrive within our academic environment. We think that you and MIT are a great match.

You have until May 1, 2008 to let us know if you’ll call MIT home for the next four years. Until then, we look forward to building our relationship with you and helping you to get to know us better. Over the next several months, we’ll be in touch via phone, email, and web.

Because there’s no better way to get a taste of life at MIT than to spend some time here, I hope very much that you will attend our Campus Preview Weekend (CPW) for admitted freshmen, held on campus from April 10-13, 2008. You’ll attend classes, share meals and conversations with current students, and experience all the ways in which people spend their time and live their passions at MIT. (And most importantly, you’ll get to meet your future classmates!) Look for a new CPW portlet in your MyMIT account in January, which will contain schedule and registration information.

And now for the requisite fine print – I must remind you that this offer of admission is contingent upon your completing the school year with flying colors. (Because you’ve been admitted early, there will be many temptations throughout the rest of the year to keep you from your schoolwork. Please don’t let that happen!)

I hope you’ll agree with us that MIT is the perfect place to prepare for your future. As a member of our community, you’ll join builders, scholars, entrepreneurs, and humanitarians. Together, you will make all the difference in a world that desperately needs you.

Many congratulations, best wishes for a wonderful holiday season, and welcome to MIT! (Now stop reading this and go celebrate.

Sincerely,

Stuart Schmill
Interim Dean of Admissions

Man! Now I have to decide between MIT and Caltech. I LOVE MIT (and its anime club), but Caltech is free (because my mom works at JPL).

I love both. I can’t believe I have to choose.

I told all of my teachers to stop writing recommendation letters. I don’t care if I get into Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, or Harvey Mudd any more.

*dies*

Today started out horribly, and if you’ve known me long enough, you know all about my supposed bad luck weeks. Well, the last 2 weeks have pretty much been my bad luck weeks of the quarter.

I slept at 3 AM… because I needed to finish my government project and biology homework… And I woke up at 5 to print things out. It was freezing.

I got to school, and it was like bam bam bam. Everything went wrong! I forgot to sign all of my application recommendation letters.

I didn’t get an important thing in my agenda done (to be nameless now…)

Maybe it was because I was too panicked and lightheaded to really think. I expected Caltech decisions to come today…

So I decided to help clean the robotics room, and I stayed until nearly 4:20, when one of my friends dropped me off.

Walking to the door, I was shaking in utter anxiety. D: It was horrible!

Big envelope vs. Small envelope.

Acceptance vs. Rejection.

Now I wonder if I ought to finish my other applications…

Caltech/MIT
Berkeley

W00T. I proved that guy standing next to Steve Wozniak at FIRST Nationals wrong. (Talk about being uber discouraged that time!)

Edit: It’s a miracle! Facebook removed the “is!”

Applications are so unnerving. I haven’t eaten a meal (okay, I had a banana) since yesterday 4 PM. I’ve skipped lunch or dinner every day of the week.

And I just feel exhausted.

I have a USC interview on Monday. My USC apps are due in 10 days. I have 5 chapters of government notes to finish. I have a design to complete for CACAYC. I have a singing lesson tomorrow (no, I haven’t practice). And I have a possible car wash to add to that.

So I walked out of bio class today… and immediately upon opening the door, I hear someone scream “Watch out!” Of course she was saying that to her friend, as they shoved the door right into my arm as I was walking out.

Wow. That stung.
